Why did I become a Trader?

Financial security for my Family BUT with an improved overall life style and quality of life that will allow me to spend more time with my family, my wife, my son and my two daughters, as well as be more healthy and exercise daily. It is also important to find time to make a difference in the world for others through volunteer and charity work. I would also like to find time for my other interests such as travel fishing and golf ( so far I am working harder than ever but do now have time to exercise every day, pick my kids up from school and on get on a plane for holidays and best of all work when I want to, the market is always there when I want to trade)

Here is a bit about my background, I was for most of my working life, around 25 years,  focused a on building technology businesses (computing and communications); with particular emphasis on mobile, communications infrastructure, IP applications cloud computing and wireless (IP and mobile applications, messaging and content)

None of this really matters now, I have a new profession and am now a professional trader in futures and option contracts, there is no going back, I have burnt the boats on the beach and the only way is forward. However, I am confident that this investment and journey to a new career and set of skill which has been both exciting and frustrating,  should give me a great platform to earn a living with a better life style for then next 20 years of my life. Even after 3 years as a trader, I still learn something new from the markets every day.

Here is my work experience, none of this has really helped me being a trader except perhaps my early sales days where you never give up and keep looking to win and make a sale, trading is a bit like this, you can never give up but you need  a lot more discipline and a very focused mind set to succeed.

  • Won and deployed deals with Comcast, Embarq, T-Mobile, Cincinnati Bell and Time Warner
  • Built out team and strategy to make Casabi an industry standard in delivery of IP services
  • Launched both carrier and consumer based IP  application services, based on the Casabi Platform
  • Key Strategic partners that included, Motorola, Cisco, Vtech, Arris, Thomson, CCT and Sagem
  • Casabi acquired by Broadsoft October 2010


MOBILE 365                                            Chantilly, Virginia                                            2003-2006

Leading mobile messaging interop service provider, connected to more than 500 carriers worldwide

  • Executed the merger of Mobileway and InphoMatch to create Mobile 365 Leader in Mobile Messaging
  • Revenue growth 30%, profitable and cash flow positive, annual run rate revenue of over $100M
  • Developed InphoMatch from technology start-up to profitable revenue growth from $5.5M to $16M to $34M while remaining profitable and cash flow positive
  • Led venture funding raising  $15M for InphoMatch
  • Closed significant commercial deals with top carriers in US, Europe and Asia including Verizon, Cingular, Sprint, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, Telefonica, Telcel, Singtel, China Mobile and mmO2

  • Developed device led product and sales channel strategy for both retail and direct sales
  • Managed all Pan-European mobile device operations covering strategy, development, procurement 
  • Devised and executed mobile device strategy for phones, smart phones and mobile data devices including new product development including the market leading Xda Microsoft Smart-phone
  • Successfully led one of five company-wide streams’ to integrate BT Wireless assets into ‘One Company’, mmO2 and subsequent public market offering

  • Closed largest pan-European mobile data integration project to date with BT Wireless. 
  • Executed carrier operational integration of first integrated wireless data service platform in Europe
  • Personally led joint venture with News Corporation as CEO responsible to Board, pioneered integrated wireless services in Europe, held full P&L responsibility for joint venture.
  • Part of a team that raised $250 million and took company public on the NASDAQ and built leadership position in wireless data and content services in the US market

  • Delivered annual sales growth of over 150% in Europe, supporting AST Computers number three personal computer manufacturer position world-wide. Successfully turned around Benelux territory from $500,000 loss per quarter to profitability, substantial success in OEM business within European outlets for Wang, Tandem, Dell and EDS as a Pan-European reseller and system integrator
